hi everybody,

i am implementing my project using RF modules and i need to transmit data through the Txd serial pin of the 8051 microcontroller. i am transmitting at a baud rate of 1200, which is -12 in programming with 11.0592Mhz crystal.

i just wanted to find out what values of capacitors i should connect to the 8051 crystal oscillator pin in the 8051 connection or the formula for how to get the capacitor values and whether it should be polarized or not. i currently connected 30pf but it is not transmitting.

please help needed here.

i read it but it still doesnt answer the question i am asking. what values of capacitance should i use with the oscillator and should it be polarised?

for a 12MHz crystal the caps should be 33pF and usually disc ceramic or monolithic ( Definately NON-polarised) I have never seen polarised ceramics pretty sure they dont exist ;)

cheers
Dave
