I have an arc welding plant and I realized that I am wasting energy when it is not used but powered on. Can anyone please suggest a way to get rid of this problem?

That is, plant gets "active" when it is welding and is "idling" when it is not welding.

I am not the one actually who use it. But the workers at my father's factory. They are not that concerned with turning it off when not in use. Last week end it was on during the whole
week end. So, that's why I want to find a solution for this.

possible do the not powerful auxiliary source of the current and adjust the automation of the cut-in on it, as this is done in some modern device.

DeepOne, I couldn't get you. Can you please elaborate a little bit?

that like this

Or simply put the programmed timer. Possible fasten automation on detector оf luminosity, since it is necessary illumination for working.

That sounds to me more like a management problem than an electronic/electrical one. Although dick_freebird's answer is short, I think it is the correct approach. Don't you have group leaders, supervisors, and/or managers to be sure equipment is properly maintained and some form of quality control/safety procedures at the end of each shift?

That's what I was thinking. Make it your foreman's job to check every station,
dock anybody who left theirs on an hour's pay (after telling them the new job
requirement). Tell him to log the names and at the end of each month divide
up the docked money among the group of workers with no slip-ups. Negative
and positive reinforcement, and you get your win on the power bill.

Thank you all for your time spent. I'll first try as you all said. :)

Thank you DeepOne for your input. I'll first try to get the plant switched off on time.

just trying to understand what you had here. I am still new in welding.. though I am getting used to some informations about it. I hope I could also share some of my problems in my welding training sooner.

Hi Mafeabi,

I can suggest the following:

If turning on and off constantly doesn't hurts the welding machine, I would suggest you to, in some way, try to put a pedal substituting the ON/OFF switch. When the worker is about to use the machine, he must have to step that pedal, turning on the welding machine. The only problem, if we may say that is a problem, is the fact that when the worker wants to use the machine, will need to step the pedal and be all the time with hes foot in that pedal.

Regards.

One of the simplest manners is injecting a low power signal and then sensing that . when your electrodes are connected , you will have current ! ( and also you will need a simple timer for that )
