Labview serial communication.

Hi everybody

I am working on a project where i need to send data to a pc to be read on labview. I intend to use serial communication. I want to know if labview can read serial data and if yes does it require additional hardware. Can we input data serially directly to labview without using the DAQ card??

Your help will be very much appreciated.
