I am planning to construct a water level sensor which gets power from solar cells. As I am planning to make it automatic, I am gonna use microcontrollers. I want to transmit the data reg the level of water to a mobile or a PC connected elsewhere. So how must I proceed. Pls Suggest me ur ideas.I need less expensive components too.

first of all

1. dont use sms format of typing in this forum, if you wish to get help here.... this is not your mobile phone and nor you are sending sms... you have come here to ask for help then the forum expects some sort of discipline... spend time to type the words properly..

coming to your question. do you plan to use a readymade water level sensor or want to build on your own... which controller you plan to use.. which IDE and programming language.... to transmit data to mobile you should have a modem...

the total cost of the project is around 7000 to 8000.

GSM modems 3000 rs
controller kit 1000 rs
solar panel 2500 rs
+ sensors + lcd + etc etc .
Now you plan your project........

First of all I would like to appreciate what you have mentioned above. Your caption tells me how complicated you are. " It is so simple to be happy, but it is so difficult to be simple". Majority of the people find it so easy to be simple but very difficult to be happy. This is a forum to ask help and discuss many concepts and not a place where every word needs to be complicated. Make it feels better when its not complicated! Anyways appreciating your point of view.

Coming to my project, I have planned to build on my own. So I am in the process of collecting data of all available low cost applications. My target is to make it possible within $100. I would like few suggestions from people on proceeding with this project.

My question was do you have development board or you will purchase? what about sensors? do you use a readymade from the vendor or you plan to design the sensors too......

the cost i have told is normal for any student project if you are in india.....

Let us wait for experts comments who can give valuable suggestions for you....

No I don't have any equipment related to this and everything needs to be purchased brand new. I have designed a circuit for water level sensors but it costs approx $6.8. But I guess there are sensors which are available in the market for much lower price. Regarding the power supply its from the solar panel and 5V should be sufficient for a MC but what if I use a Modem? Approx how much supply do I need to transmit data every one hour to a mobile that is placed a few kilometers away. Or can I use a bluetooth if it is within 100 m away. It is a demo model and I prefer to use the mobile with is not far than 100m. I am sorry if my questions sound silly. I have just started my journey towards electronics.

How much does the water level vary? If the difference between high water and low water is 3 meters, you would measure it differently than if it varied by only 3 cm.
