flash telephone

Hi

I'm doing a school project that using pocketPC with Compact Flash to make phone call. I have a Sycard 180HIB CF extend for development. I need some suggestion on the circuit design of the telephone and CF interfacing.

I'm finding IC for the telephone circuit and microcontroller and this is quite difficult for me. I found that most telephone ICs have mic, receiver and ringer drivers to driver external devices. But what I need is digital signal feed into the CF for pocketPC programming. Are there any ICs just simply output digital code for the phone status? How to chose a suitable microcontroller for the interface of telephone IC and CF? If the telephone IC built in codec, is it suitable to connect the digitized voice signal to CF interface directly that no need to handle by microcontroller?

Thanks for your help.
Bill
