Dear all,
Greetings, could any body check this ic and tell me how it works.. i made apcb same as the schematic in the attatchments but the 150 ohm series resistance with the triac gate is fried."i don't know why" the load is 220v, 40 watt lamp . i want to control it "dimmer" . the triac used is btb04-400a.

could anyone help please. thanks

Re: tca785 Phase Control IC from simens

For the 15V voltage pulses on output, using a 150 ohm resistor, we get a pulse current of 0.1A.
In this situation maximum pulsed power in the resistor = 1.5W. You need to consider using a minimum 1W resistor.

Using BTB04 series triacs, IGT = 10mA, you can to change the resistor value up to 1000 ohms, so a normal 0.25W resistor to be used for.
