-5V

how to get a -5V (Vee) if i only have a power supply

Re: -5V

The obvious way is to connect the +ve rail to ground, and the -ve rail to V-. Then pass the supply through a 7905 regulator.
If you are talking about obtaining +5V and -5V from a single power supply, there are voltage invertors like the 7660 for small current applications.

Re: -5V

is there other way to do it...ya...i m talkin about obtaining +5v and -5v from a single supply...n need gnd as well.this is for my LCD connection...thanks

Re: -5V

Use an inverter such as the LM2664 from NSC

Re: -5V

Use a timer 555 as a voltage inverter it will be very cheap at low powers

Re: -5V

If you have a power supply with a negative voltage output you can tap off the transformer, filter, and use a regulator. The regulator can just be a series transistor with a feedback transistor. Make sure the gain is right and use the collector of the feedback resistor to control the voltage at the base of the series transistor. Be sure the current of the series transistor always remains constant, so add a load if you have to. The VCE will have a wide range because it's normally a high current transistor.

If you have a power supply -5V

power supply with a negative voltage output you can connect the transformer,

filter, and use a regulator (using 7905 regulator)
