I plan to give the HAM exam soon.

I read this book "Electronics of Radio" By David B. Rutledge 0-521-64645-6

It is an awesome book with good know-how written for any radio enthusiast.

The NorCal 40A they have mentioned in there...does anybody have any knowledge regarding the same?

Also when i become a ham (hopefully i shall pass the license test in this very year) what radio should i buy. Or is this forum not for HAMS? :?:

Please tell. I heard Grundig is good from the older generation. dunno more about the equipment. Have to master the theory and build proper working circuits first...shall get experience from that before diving into the HAM world

PS: Can any one find the same ebook i will be thankful. The one i read (and am reading!) belong to our Library!

Bye

I had a course in college that went through that book, and had us analyze/design/build/test a NorCal 40A. It was a pretty good class, but the professor was a really tough grader. I haven't lookes at the book in about 8 years, but I can probably dust off the cobwebs if you have questions.

There are a number of RF designers, and several HAMs, on this forum. Feel free to ask about any topic... there is likely someone with background in it.

I've been a Ham for many years but I have not come across Grundig Ham equipment, I associate them with domestic radio rather than the more specialized amateur band equipment. I'm sure many people on here will help you if you ask questions. I can't download the ebook, my internet connection is very slow and downloads to far too long.

Brian.
