I have a 10HP motor with 1.375"(~34mm) diameter shaft. What's the best encoder option for it?? Thx a lot!

are you planning to embed your optical encoder on the motor shaft?

Is it to measure the motor speed?

Exactly. I wanna have incremental pulse feedback to microcontroller to calcu. motor speed.

I am working in motor controls and we are using a hall sensor to measure the speed of the motor. We attach a magent at the motor shaft and hall sensor measures the speed.
