im trying to replace a resistor on a digital clock in my car it is brown in colour and has 18ohm(symbol).j on it i was told it is 2 watt, it is 15mm long approx and about 4mm radius. can any one give me some advice please.

From what you describe its an 18 Ohm, 2Watt resistor ! The size is a bit small for 2W, it is more likely a 1W or 1.5W rating but it depends on its internal construction.
You should find a replacement very easily, its a standard part you can get from most electronic suppliers.

Brian.
