hi

i have dc voltage source change from 90 volt to 30 v dc
i need to fix this voltage at 24 voltage dc so i search about voltage regulator
such as LM78XX family but i found LM7824 and it has max input 40 volt, also
i design zener circuit but i need to 2A in out out so we need to using resistor 120watt so it is not practical.

i know the best way to using PWM "dc to dc converter" but i search about low cost solution and simple, so did any one using or know regulator or any simple practical circuit ?

wait your help for importance
thanks

Look at the SIMPLE SWITCHER products. Also, use their WebBench tool, it will take your design input requirements and construct a potential circuit for you (should give you part numbers and all).

hi

ok already i found this web sit before during survey but this solution include IC [SMD] and the out out current small compared with what i need [2A]
so, i need to practical solution really such as LM78xx family or other

wait your reply
reg,

For Vin = 30-90V, and Vout = 24V @ 2A, WebBench calls out the LM5116. The tool says it can be used up to 20A designs.

Are you looking the current handling of the controller IC itself? If so, I'm not surprised that would be small, since the inductor and FET switches are handling the bulk of the power. The controller just senses the output voltage and adjusts the duty cycle of the FETs to keep the output voltage at 24V.
