now, i want to extract the hierarchical pex netlist from layout using cadence calibre tool, but i don't know how to write the xcell list. can anyone help me for this? what is the format of xcell file? and how to create the xcell for hierarchical pex netlist extraction?

please help me, thanks.

Hi lhlbluesky
the syntax is the same as hcells but with the addition of special suffixes to tune the extraction.
The basic syntax is
layoutCellName schematicCellName
all the cells for which you want to extract a subckt have to be listed here.
For all other options (many can also be controlled via PEX GUI) I would recommend reading the XRC user guide

can you give me an example, please? thanks.

An example of xcell list file could be
//
NAND2X2 NAND2X2
NOR2X1 NOR2X1
//
for a small digital combinatorial block. When run in PEX with hierarchical output , this will extract a top level subckt and two (assuming both layout cells in the list are found in the design) more subckt in the hierarchy. The names in the extracted sunckt's can come either from layout or schematic depending on your settings.
