Hey guys, My name is Ge and I'm working on my senior project right now. And of course I need help. The project I have chosen to take on is a digital alarm clock in which you would wave your hands to turn off the alarm instead of hitting the snooze button. My question is this, (aside from the obivious 7segment displays or an LCD board, 16F877A PIC, and DS1307)

Will I be able to use a motion sensor to implement the snooze function?

Thank you hotwaterwizard, however, I don't think my project cordinator will allow my team and I to use that alarm clock kit. What they want to see us do is use IC's, PIC's, wires, and all other components plugged into a breadboard setup. That proximity sensor sounds good though. I'll go over the datasheets and all other info you posted should (more than likely) I need help, I'll get back to you.

Thank you for the help. However, I'm pretty sure that the judges and my project cordinator will know that something like this is way out of my league. I'm looking for something more simple, yet intriguing. From a students point of view.
Also, would it be entirely possible to write a program like this using flowcode? Programming is not my strong suite. Also forgot to ask about another component. Would I need somekind of night vision or infared sensor ( I know the PIR is infared ) just humor me, I'm a noob.

Ummmm :-? 8-O  Now i'm speachless First not complicated enough then too complicated

The thing is, we have to show how I designed everything. They don't want to see kits, or anything not in our proposal. And what my team and I proposed was an alarm clock with a motion sensor. If we stray from the accepted proposal, we will be penalized.
