Hello,

I'm looking for a good way to resize a PCB.
I'm using the PCB Board Wizard to generate the initial size.

All the hints point to using the reshape function with which you have to draw a new shape for the PCB. I think this is a very unconvenient way to do it.

I actually want to keep using the PCB Board Wizard.
It seems not to be possible to redraw a board with the wizard.

What i've just tested is create a new PCB file using the wizard with the new dimensions. The select all on the old PCB file and copy it.
Then past it in the new PCB file. This works but netlists are not copied.
So then i use the "import changes" function to import the changes from schematics. This seems to be importing all nets and everything looks OK.

Is this a good way to resize a PCB? Are there any caveats? Are there better ways?

I'm not sure what version of AD you are using, but in Summer 09 you can do:

Design -> Board Shape -> Move Board Vertices

This has worked well for me (just set the grid to something fairly large)

In the PCB editor, under the Design->Board Shape menu, there are options to create primitives from the board outline, and also to create a board outline from selected primitives. In this case, "Primitives" means lines, arcs, etc.

So, if you just want to modify the shape without moving individual handles, you can create primitives from the shape, adjust them, then select the lines outlining the shape, and create a new board shape from them.

Also, you can create a rectangle, or a circle, etc., specifying the endpoints, etc., then select and make a board shape from that.

Or, if you really want to use the wizard, you can open up a new board, use the wizard, then create primitives from that shape, copy/paste them into your PCB, and create a board shape from the pasted primitives.

Or, you could just do it the way you already are.
