Hi all..I'm working on SIM900 and when I send the command AT it returns +CFUN:1 INSERTED and nothing after that works, that is AT+CGATT=1 then starts returning ERROR. I have put AT+CGATT=1 in loop but it returns ERROR for all instances of the command. Without any change in the code when AT command is sent and response got is OK +CPIN:READY,everything after that works well. But the same code doesn't work when AT command doesn't return READY. What does +CFUN:1 INSERTED means..why AT+CGATT=1 returns ERROR if this response is got from AT command...any help would be much appreciated...thankyou...

It is a part of code that is executed at power... This test check is done to if the modem detectes sim in the modem... Then it prints INSERTED...

then it registers and becomes ready....

then it can accept any command from the user....
but whatever command you give it will again print this means that the modem is getting restarted again and again and no commands will work later...

its problem with power supply.. the surrent rating is not enough..

use 12V/1A for modem

Thankyou for the help..it seems logical..also one more thing is while attaching the device to network , that is sending AT+CGATT=1 I need to keep sending it for sometime (5-6 times) and then I get the response OK. Why it takes so long...

first test it in hyperterminal and see if same problem is there in testing modem only... thats will make it a bit more easier to debug..

I hope you are registering GPRS before attach by sending command

AT#GPRSMODE=1
OK

AT+CGREG=1

OK
AT+CGATT=1

the designed ouput for the PS is 4,1V .

Recommended regulator circuit design is given in page 21.
