Hi Folks

I am wondering if someone could help me with a circuit design that given a voltage (~0-10V range) and a threshold value (say 7V) would change output if the voltage rose above the threshold voltage.

The threshold however, is not set. Its controlled by a processor output pin(s).

Little bit inexperienced as to what is commercially available (what I should be searching for) and what I may need to design myself. If the threshold was set instead of variable, I wouldn't have too much difficulty, but this has confused me a bit.

That's very easy to construct. You need only three main components in schematic:
  • 2x comparators
  • 1x AND gate

sorry I realised I described the problem badly.

The o/p from the micro is binary representation of threshold level. (ie: 0111 for my previous example)

Monitored voltage is pulses at around 20-50kHz.

EDIT: thanks for replying Prototyp_V1.0, Am fiddling about with your suggestion, brain is fried after long day atm though :)

4bit-DAC + analog comparator (and, perhaps + resettable latch).

Voltage divider (with resistor segments) can be programmed by switch that could be controlled digitally. Alternatively, reference voltage can be programmable digitally.
