Sony TA-AX22 Amplifier

Hello dear community,

This is my first post here so hello all!

I wanted to ask about my sony amplifier which i bought 2 days ago from a garagesale. It was working perfect for a day and a half.

I've connected two pionner speakers(8Ω-100W) and two creative speakers -which i don't know about spefications nor +,- sides. And the sound was great.

And then suddenly sound coming from left channel went in to distrotion. Volume level got weak and i could barely hear. Now, everytime i turn the amplifier off and let it cool for a while, sound comes out normal for about 10 secs. And then it goes to the distrotion again. However right channel's working perfect.

I've opened the case but couldn't see anything burned or something. Do you have an idea about the problem? I tried to change speakers and everything, tried everything can be done.

Should i take to a repairman? Would it cost too much?

I presume that the amplifier is faulty. some capacitor might cause the problem. you need to take it to the repair shop.

Do you think it's repair-able?

Is there a chance to creative speakers caused the problem. I think they're like 3W or something. And i might be connected them wrong e.g. red to black - black to red. The guy i bought it, said it's my fault. I don't really belive him.

Usually there will be polarity to be followed. try to put some small speakers to see if the small speakers 4ohm speakers work properly. Your big speakers may be loading the amplifier. what is the specification of amplifier. Wattage?

there is no serious damage but if the components are faulty when they are bought it needs to be replaced.

It just says 65W on the back. 8-16 Ohm A-B speaker out.

I'm not so good about the hardware and i don't think i can make it. But i'll just try what you've suggested.
