[SOLVED] power amp combined with tone control?

I was wondering if there would be any drawback with combinining a op amp tone control circuit into the power output stage of an amp for driving 8 ohm speakers, by using LM675 power op amps in that stage.



Like the circuit above , but with LM675's instead of the op amps shown in the diagram.
 

You can do it but I wouldn't recommend it for several reasons:
1. possibly high voltage on the controls which might pose a safety risk,
2. the amplifier may become unstable if the gain at any frequency drops below 10,
3. the load impedance will have some effect on the feedback path which might cause instability or uneven frequency response,
4. you have to be careful with the biasing current conditions being met.

Since almost all of the components of your tone control circuit are in the signal path, I'd recommend building the circuit in a grounded metal enclosure and keeping the circuit paths between components and especially any wire runs to the potentiometers as short as feasible.
