[SOLVED] LCD 16*2 line display red colour

I am using a two line 16 character display LCD , JHD, in my project, I am not able to get the display clearly I have given a 5v to the Back light with 470Ohms resistor.
pls help
 

Does the 470E gets hot?
Did you tried adjusting contrast?

i use the same lcd like u..i have same problem..but i solve by adding potentiometer to set the contrass..

 

ok, i shall try, i had given input volt 5v 1 amp for the porject, should i use a resistor for VEE before puting the POT.
