I am new to microcontroller programming.
I recently bought AT89C2051 and AT89C4051 from bangalore.
Only this 2 mc were available to buy.
the i tried to check for a programmer online and all of them are expensive and
hard to find/buy.
I read that it is possible to connect the mcs directly to paralle/serial port and
burn the code to mc.
is it possible to to with 8051/2051, if so how to do it and if not what is the
alternative.

as i said before, that was the only mcs available to buy( no AT89S52).

i was on a visit to bangalore and went to SP road, i went thru 100 shops in the street and only one shop had this mcs and only 4051 & 2051. nothing else to buy

## bassa has quoted to check other links - link to an ISP programmer circuit.
so i understand it is not possible to connect the mc directly to parallel/serial port
and program as explained here in "http://embeddeddreams.com/site/2008/10/05/starting-up-programming-avr-microcontrollers/".

if to buy a ready made one, which is better ? all are compatible ?
or assembled one availble somewhere.??
thankx in advance.

Hi,
Its not possible that AT89Sxx chips are not available in banglore. At89Sxx chips(At89s51 or At89s52) are very very very common........

Try this shop in banglore

NSK ELECTRONICS
#66/3 Ground Floor,S.P. Road
Bangalore - 560 002 Karnataka (INDIA)
Tel: + 91-80-41575115

89C2051's are abundant in supply and can be found with almost every Industrial component vendor in bangalore S. P. Road.
You may also try this location in Bangalore for 8051 programmer with USB port.
M/s Sunrise Electronics
No67, Kartik Plaza, S.P Road,
Bangalore 560002
Ph: 080 41243027 / 9844040550

Thank you very much for the info. I will try.

I still need some more help.
Based on all this info. i bought 8051 programmer from robokits.
I had 2 AT89C2051 and AT89C4051.
I tried this on the programmer. It does not detect the chip.
some how i managed to get 40 pin AT89C52 from local market. also not detected.
so i think the problem is with programmer and i am going to return it to supplier (going to take a long time - send, repair & return).

i came across "http://dybkowski.net/content/en/node/15" and found a isp programmer for 2051, 89c52 etc.
it required only single IC required. i went thru it.
my question regarding this is this device connects directly to the MCU (89c52) and program or it require extra hardware (like stk200) to be attached to it.
this might sound ridiculous but kindly help me. if not any option for directly programming 89c52?

thanks in advance

this is an ISP programmer. The 89C devices do not support ISP programming. IF you get an 89S device, then this programmer MAY work for you if you don't have parallel port/windows driver issues.

i bought new parallel programmer for 89c52 and 2 89c52 ics also. i tried one circuit and it is working ok. thank you friends for the help given so far
