Hi all!
The display function is well bud is down in power (looks like it). You can see all the information, it still works bud looks like it's dimmed. I do have skills to repair bud don't know where to start. I am sure one of you can help me out

Thanx! I downloaded the manual and will delve in to it!
It’s been a while
Indeed all systems go. Bud it seems a little burning smell is coming out the machine  I see if I can visualize something first. If you have pointed tips for me on the machine itself please let me know. I really need this DAT engine for loading my music in to the PC. Greetings Evert

You can download the service manual:
Meanwhile, the other functions work?
And you can check begin the ;
1- Regulator voltages,
2- Display voltage
3- Display driver voltage
4- Driver xtal check.

 I found out it's the resistor R902 4.7 Ohm. This was defect.
This is located on the Power board.

Sony DAT 57ES Display down, Local dealer say's I need original parts,

Hmmm,

I see "[MOD - THREAD UNLOCKED & THREADS MERGED]" is closed, so I try to continue here..

I have two Sony 57ES DAT recorders,
I use them for about 15 years on daily base
as AD/DA headphone amp and VU-peak meter,

and both have since a few weeks the same problem with the power for the display,

R902 is damaged i guess,
and the diodes D907-D908 are turned black,

I went to the local electo shop, but they said they could help me !!

Hmmm, They said, I need original parts ??

SO I'm gonna mail the sony service department asap,

But I try to ask here on edaBoard,
if somebody knowns replacement part types for R902, D907 and D908,

**broken link removed**

Kindly, StephenM - Belgium :) :)
