How to trigger two ckts that are outside a board using RS232

help me regarding RS232

Hi ,

My board is connected to RS232 conector (COM port of PC). I would like to trigger two ckts through Hyper Terminal which are outside the board. How can i do it ? Can i use any other pins of RS232 other than Rx and Tx.
This external ckt may be one CRO and one switch.

yes you can use other pins of serial port as a control signal
or you can use controller connected to serial port and it can do all you want

yes my controller is connected to COM port throught RS232 driver/receiver. But how to control other pins of the COM port . How can i control 2 switches?
