hi,

i am building a wireless data transmitter as major project in college, basically i am thinking to design a FM transmitter for transmitting serial data (at max 15 meters). i am using lmx2322 pll and vco (80-100 Mhz), can some one tell me if i put serial data(8 bit) at the input of the transmitter then can i get the serial data at the receiver side?
also can someone point me any good RF circuit simulation software?

thanks

any one?

You don't need any hardware to do this. Just phone up your local FM radio station and send your 8 bits of data into the telephone handset when they let you speak.

Just before you do this, get a tape measure and place an FM radio (tuned to your local radio station) exactly 15 metres from the telephone and I suspect you will be able to receive all 8 bits and pass your college project with full marks.

It's got to be a trick question, vfone...

To go 15 metres he doesn't need RF circuit simulation software as the VCO alone will cover that short range and it is the only true RF part on the board. (what is there to simulate?)
Also the PLL chip isn't really suitable for this frequency band. Also, the PLL chip is ancient and has a MICROWIRE interface to control it. (why would a student choose this old device for the PLL)
Also, there is the issue of loop bandwidth to allow FM etc

and the question from the OP is "will 8 bits from the tx reach the receiver?"

Neat Idea about the call Local FM Radio Station except 99% of all calls are pre recorded and edited befor broadcasted.
Did you really think you were caller # 10 !! (20 yrs in the radio biz) GOHZU's got it.

You could always call a phone in program and pretend to ask a question about the important topic of the day. eg "do whales have feelings?"
Then send the 8 bits by tapping on the handset whilst also talking inanely about whale songs.

it might not matter if there is a delay before the info is received at the FM radio. Also I think using the tape measure correctly is the most technically challenging part.
