hi
i m using Sim 548 modem but every time i gett responce -------
RDY

+CPIN: NOT INSERTED

+CFUN: 1

i have used
1.LM317 for 3.9V , used 100uf /25v Cap between Vbat & GND
2.10k pullup between data pin & pin 6 of simcard i.e. sim suply
3. 0.22uf cap between vdd & GND of sim card
4. but i havent use series resistance between any pin .

also my debug port is not working .. absolutely no communication on it ...
i tried hard to solve al this problem but nouse...
plz help me out.....

Modem needs 500Ma current while in operation with 12V or 9 V input. Check that.
2. is there a sim in the modem
3. Is it a vaild sim
4. Is the sim connector intact or broken.
5. serial port is working because the modem message are coming.
problem is SIM is not detected, when this error comes.

6. give AT and see response of ok , check if echo is off in hyperterminal.
7. Change SIm and see.

thank you for response
sorry but it is not modem it is module.
i have built the circuit & use LM 317 for power.
The module can be interfaced to PC using hyper terminal. When the module is powered ON I get the above response (The POWERKEY function is working well).
the problem is I dont get any voltage on any pin of SIM card even on its Vdd pin.
Response 'OK' is received from module for commands - AT and AT+IPR=4800 and AT&W but CME ERROR10 response is received on every commands related to SIM card.
The PCB layout has been verified to be correct for track connections and continuity.
Is any configuration needed to use the debug port? Have you used the debug port previously?

Thanks

When you say it is module, i dont get what is it? Either it should be a phone or modem. I have worked on debug ports, but the problem is in hardware,
If you get the voltage at the pins of sim connector your problem is solved.
You should get 3V or 1.8V at SIM connector depending on the type of SIM card module being used.
Seems purely hardware problem, check this pdf at page 46 and below.

unable to attach the pdf. can you refer this pdf in the link

Thanks for ur reply...yes u r right that was a hardware problem sim_Vdd track is not connected properly.
now sim card is working perfectly ..i also tried to send data on server & sms commands.

BUT STILL DEBUG PORT IS NOT WORKING NO DATA ON IT.!!!! :-(
because while working with Micro-controller i have to check the communication using debug port.
i read throughly all doc related to Sim 548 Hardware manual & At command set but not able to resolve problem .

one more thing , as per the datasheet there is no auto-baud rate for Debug port. So how to assign new user specified Baud rate ? is this same by using AT+IPR=xxx ???. I have set it for 4800 Baud. but still no communication on Debug port. So please help me !!!

debug port do not support 4800. it starts with 9600. try it.

9600, 19200,38k,57k,115k. use at+IPR=9600. and save using at&W or else you loose the settings

thanks for reply..
i tried on 9600 baud rate & save this setting using AT&W..
but still no data on debug poart...i checked on DSO still result is same.
except this all other functions are Ok .
is there any procedure required to enable DEBUG port ? or it is activated automatically ?

plz help.

also as per the datasheet of "SIM548 Hardware design" page 47 , "Debug port can not use multiplexing function " ......what is the meaning of multiplexing function ??

debug port cannot be used to send or receive AT commands data along with debug data, it needs to be dedicatedly used to print logs, try with all standard baudrates from 9600 onwards.
1. Maybe it is coming but you are able to view it.
2, Are you using 2 serial port one for at responses and other only for debug purpose.
3. Open other hyperterminal window where you connect the debug port and check it.
4. interchange the debug and serial port and see if other earlier port used for debug is printing at responses.

hi,

i have no power on sim_vdd... sim_vdd track is connected properly

also sim_vdd and sim_data is connedted together (shorcut circuit) i donw know why! is it ok?
