Hi, I have DEF/LEF files for a design, but I don't have the techfile compatible with Cadence. When I tried to import the DEF/LEF into ICFB, it seemed Ok even without a techfile. But when I want to export to GDSII, the metal layers were missing because PIPO failed to get the stream layer rules for the layer-purpose pair. It's indicated in the user guide the rules are specified either in the techfile or a layer map file. But I have neither... Is there some way that I can get around this and still export the correct GDSII?

Thanks.

I know on GDS-II streamin icfb can build you a "best guess"
techfile. I do not know whether the LEF/DEF import does
the same, I don't use that. If it does, use that to get a
techfile. You can always edit the stream layer table to add
the ones that have trouble.

Before I imported the DEF/LEF, I created a library by compiling a new techfile (unfortunately, it's a Astro technology file). ICFB cannot recognize the Astro techfile so it just make a compiled techfile.cds. But it's binary so I cannot edit it. Also, I didn't find any stream layer table it automatically generated.

Thanks.

See if you can force an ASCII techfile option, that will have
the layers embedded in a section and will be editable.

I know way back when, I had occasion to use a "generic"
techfile that had layer000 - layer255. Might see if you can
find anything like that.

Do you have Encouter or Astro's technology file,
if you have it ,you can use Encounter /Astro to read the lef/def,
then export the gds only have the metal /via/pin text.
