Hi all,

I'm very new in this area. Hope someone can give me some guideline or solution to solve my problems.

I'm decide to using programming in pic to control difference speed of dc motor.
My problem is i am using pic16f876A send pwm to L293D motor driver to control dc motor. Dc motor is 12v and 0.46A. Below is my schematic diagram. Is it can work to run?

Regards,
edwardho

Use separate supplies for the motor and the controller. Apart from that, I dont find any thing wrong with the schematic.

Although the above circuit should work, but a better way will be to isolate the drive chip and the controller using opto-isolators.

To khansaab21,

Thanks your suggestion. If you provide more information for me, i would more appreciate it. I didn't catch your suggestion. Can you explain more deeper? How to isolate drive chip?

For instance you can use 'ILQ74', it has got four isolators in a single package. The purpose of using the isolator to galvanic-ally isolate the digital circuitry and the power circuitry. So that sensitive and high speed digital circuits do not get affected high voltage/current levels of power sections of the system. Google 'optoisolators' for more information. Google 'ILQ74' for the datasheet. You can find its application circuit in it.

Thanks khansaab21. So the opto-isolator is put in between mircocontroller and motor driver to achieve its function?

Many many thanks.
