I want to design a circuit which can receive a FM signal (detect it) and then display the frequency(which would be somewhere between 88-108 MHZ).

If the frequency cant be displayed..then is there any other way to detect that frequency (like a dial in radios).....

The problem statement is like this.."a tone or an audio signal would be transmitted by a FM transmitter and we have to tell the frequency"

please help
 

Do you need a frequency meter for the carrier (88-108 MHz) or for the audio tone (<20 kHz)? For the former, even a kit is somewhat expensive. For the latter, something like this may work but would require coupling it's input to the audio output of a receiver: **broken link removed**.
 

Use ordinary FM receiver and attach a frequency counter to the local oscillator. Then from measured frequency subtract IF frequency which is 10.7MHz and you will get transmitter or received frequency.
 

I have to detect the carrier frequency at which the transmitter is transmitting which would be somewhere in between 88-108 MHz....

@Borber can you please elaborate..
 

87.5-108 MHz is standard frequency band for FM radiodifusion called allso FM band or Band II. To receive radio stations in this band you can buy FM receiver or perhaps you allready have one.
 

I have seen that TDA 7000 is used in many detector circuits....anyone knows how to use that.??....

Well for this purpose I can use the FM receiver used in Cars or cell phones which can detect the frequency and can display it as well...anybody having the circuit diagram for that or any material..?
