simple DAQ: digital input receiving a 0 V or 5 V signal from a switch

Hi guys and gals,

Any suggestion on a simple data acq, say 8-port, to receive 0V - 5V from a manual switch, that can also interface with RS232 or USB? Is it possible to make without using mcu?

Of course it can be done without a small mcu but it would be like going back in time by, say, 20 years ..

Now, have a look at PICAXE18, picture is attached, and see if you can find anything simpler than that ..

Hi IanP, I can't find the code he used on programming (basic). Sorry im really a noob on mcus and this project is really a learning thing for me :)
