how to increment Timers externally via PINs?

i want to know that is it possible to increment Timers (as counter) externally via pins in PIC microcontrollers? without using any "external interrupt pin then in ISR increment timer"
i want directly via PINs ??

i am using PIC16F877A , 18F4550 etc

tell me what should i do ??
