hi

1- what is the defference between the LDR and the photoresister?which one is better to use it as a sensor?

2-If I put 2 LDR s as sensors on a solar pannel and compare the two reading in order to track the sun. do you think that would work ?

3-I want some suggestions for simple applications to my suntracker project.
basecally the solar pannel will track the sun and save the power in some battries and use it to supply another load what would that load be ?

thats all 4 now thanQ

1- LDR = Photoresistor
2- I think it would.
3- You have a project, you make itand after it is finished you dont know what to do with it. Is that the question?!

Mahdi.

right now I am using 2 LDRs
but my friend adviced me to use solar cells as sensors instaide of the LDR.
he said that you can't find 2 LDRs give the same voltage if you tested them under same conditions so if you use them, your system will not operate correct. what do you think ?? Is he right?

about your last Q..
yes, I want something in life that the sun tracker would be usefull to use it with like some thing we need it in desert or sea .

Btw is the photo cell same as well ?

Your friend is right in some extent: The LDRs are not that exact, but neither the solar cells.
If I were you I would put a MCU to read the resistance and implement the control functions with care of tolerances and small differes in resistance.

You just mentioned some application to the project you mentioned.

Photocell = LDR ...

how can I choose the right MCU ?

Here is info about two axis tracker article with source code.
Two Axis Sun Tracker For Small Solar Panels - Nuts and Volts

thanx ,right now Im doing it in one axit but if I had enough time I'll try the two axis

There is no difference in chossing one.
You better take one that has built in ADC, however you can have an external ADC and link it to the MCU. Most PICs have internal ADCs.

Mahdi.

Iam using pic 16F876A and in this pic I have to write a program for ADC

so ,what is MCU ?Im not sure I got u right

MCU is the Microcontroller unit.
That's the good one and handles your project very well.

Mahdi.

thank u so much I'll see what can I do and if there is any problem I be back
