Questions about using DTMF MT8880 tone generator in a dialer alarm design

hello everyone !
iam doing a dialer alarm usign pic 16f887 and dtmf mt8880 tone generator the idea is when an alarm is triggered is send signal to pic and with the aid of dtmf it will make a call to number programmed to the pic ,,,,so far i still cant get the dtmf to work so still testing process ..iam having doubts and really appreciate if someone can give any ideas :

- do i need a call detection circuit for this project ???

-and about the dtmf mt8880 do i have to connect it to the telephone line to make it generate tones even for testing it using the code given in the data sheet ???cause the data sheet they doesnt say whether it must be connected to telephone line or not ,,, any suggestion about testing this ic ??

hi,
i think u should not detection circuit cause u.. it should not receive the call..
maybe the ic mt8880 can connect to telephone line..
