Help me recognize sound types using Matlab code

Hi
I am doing final year project (speach recognition) in matlab

here i have short listed few sound type
like
1. wind
2. raining
3. door closing sound.



please help me to proceed.

i am new to this domain,
even i don't know which parameter to use for classifying sounds

But my problem statement is "depending on sound produced by the wind, waterfall and sound of door while closing, code has to say wind is blowing or water .....

please help me to proceed

I am not an expert in recognition, I worked in text-dependent speech recognition and not SOUND recognition, so I don't know how it differs but there must be some parameters used anyway !
