what are disadvantages of time domain and advantages of frequency domain that we transform from one domain to another using foureir ,laplase,.....

Re: Need help to contrast in time domain & frequency dom

Hi

We can decompose signal (x(t)) by transforming to frequency domain, as u know:

x(t)= A+B*sin(wt)+C*sin(2wt)+D*sin(3wt)+...

that, A,B,C,D are amplitude of single-frequency signal that combined and create the x(t).

Good luck

Re: Need help to contrast in time domain & frequency dom

The advantage is that linear systems (filters) produce outputs through convolving the impulse response with the input signal. The convolution is a very hard problem for analysis and the deconvolution is even usually impossible for the design problem !

A frequency domain property is that time convolution corresponds to frequency multiplication, so we transform the filter, the input, multiply and simply get the output.

In computer processing, convolution needs longer and more complex processing than multiplication as convolution consists of multiplications, shifts and additions.
