Hi there,

is there any commercial or private user of EAGLE who wants to disclose some projects ? I'm in need of good reference projects to break the prejudices about EAGLE.

Thank you all,
Mario

Keith,

regarding prejudices: I often read statements like "too simple", "entry level tool", "hobbyist tool". None of these "against" people has ever made a clear statement like:
"EAGLE does not have feature x,y and z compared with tool A,B,C". This kind of comparison I'm looking for by the way.

I presume the prejudices origin from less professional PCBs made by hobbyists (hopefully not offending this valuable group of EAGLE users) and the moderate price compared with other EDA software. In the industrial sector someting MUST be expensive to be regarded as good...

Have a geat day,
Mario

Mario,

I sent you a private message - I hope you received it.

I think there are probably a few cheap entry level PCB packages which may be a struggle to use for professional PCBs. Once you get away from those I think most are perfectly capable. Then, as you spend more money I feel packages start to get a bit bloated and unwieldy. Their facilities may be useful in certain environments, e.g. concurrent engineering, integration with mechanical CAD, 3D modelling, integration with FPGA design and simulation tools but for a lot of users I suspect these just get in the way and hinder productivity.

Just my opinion, having used quite a few over the last 25 years. My experience is based on mostly small companies (<500 employees, most of whom are not electronic).
