i don't know about self programming but you can programme thru * AVRDUDE supports USBasp since version 5.2.
* BASCOM-AVR supports USBasp since version 1.11.9.6.
* Khazama AVR Programmer is a Windows XP/Vista GUI application for USBasp and avrdude.
* eXtreme Burner - AVR is a Windows GUI Software for USBasp based USB AVR programmers.

you can fabricate no 1 circuit that would be easy

hey in fischl.de/usbasp/ circuit is given only for atmega 8 ..where cani get the circuit for atmega 32? ..

to the circuit u mentioned first what are j1 j2 n j3?
will this seriously work for atmega 32?

The programming part of micro controller is fully depend upon the register....to program any microcontroller you need these things
1.development board
2.programming or compiler software like keil
3.software for feeding program in MC....
this is the basic needs and search Google you get everything related to MC
