How to connect Low resistance load....

Hi guys.....

i want to connect a speaker (1Ω , 3W) to an voltage output of an 555 timer which is a 1kHz pulse source.........and as u know it can only supply .5A current......

so what kind of stage or buffer amplifier i should use...........to connect the speaker......


Plz... Help me...!!

Connect a resistor in series to the speaker to get a current less than 0.5A. The value of the resistor would depend on the volage the 555 is powered with.
Try around 50 Ohms
 

Instead of a power-limiting resistor, connect a speaker through a capacitor ..
It provides good dc isolation, so your speaker will be safe ..
Something as small as 4.7uF and as big as 100uF should work, doepending on the supply voltage fed to the 555-timer ..

@nikhil... You need not need an amplifier... that current is enuf.
Infact you need to limit the current sometimes....
Plus as you are taklking about the buffer amplifier... dont go for it,

As suggested, go for a simple capacitor, which blocks DC....
