i've made a line follower robo with atmega32, the robo works fine, but one thing i observed is the power LED on mainboard of bot blinks at a low frequency while bot is running. supply is same for mainboard(has atmega32) & motor driver chip, which is around 8volts. while surfing net i came across this article
https://www.kronosrobotics.com/an142/GAN142.htm
it talks about putting caps across motors to avoid noise. is he talking about the very same noise problem which i face? will this noise hurt my atmega??

Adding caps across brushed motor's terminals wouldn't hear, but blinking power LED may indicate insufficient current available from the 8V power rail ..
Try to add substantial capacitor, say 1000uF, between 8V and GND and see how it goes ..
