Hi, I am using an SD card controlled by a microcontroller. The SD card will allow a user to input a program for a controller system. The user interface is an 8x10 inch plate with an embedded keypad along with a slot where the user can inset an SD card. Behind the plate would be an SD card holder (made by Tyco, part# 0676000004)). My problem is how to mount the SD holder behind the plate. My first thought would be to mount the SD card holder on its own pcb with a pin header that would interface with the uP board via a ribbon cable. I would then need some "L" brackets to attach to the SD card pcb and the back of the metal plate.

Does anyone have a better idea of how this could be done ?
Thanks.

That's a viable approach.

Another possibility is to bolt the SD board to the enclosure floor through standoffs. if your assembly process has good tolerances, the mouth of the SD card connector will match the slot in the front panel. If the slot is vertical, the same can be done on the side of the enclosure.
