Hi all,
I have a problem with my laptop. Actually It shuts down automatically and suddenly. The problem remains the same even if I retrieved the battery and I use only the charger for power supply.
I read some threads that says that this may be due to dirts. I tried to open it to clean it from dust but I could't. Do somebody know how to open it a HP 510.

Re: Open a Laptop

there may be some problem with PWRGOOD signal
going off sporadically.
i am not sure but can have check with that when you open.

You don't need to open it to clean it out. Using a toothpick and an air compressor is the way most professionals do it. With the laptop powered off, GENTLY stick a toothpick into the fan to prevent it from spinning. Failure to do so could burn-out the bearings or even cause the fan blades to snap when you blow the dust out. Next, using an air compressor, blow the dust out of the fan intake and the exhaust openings. Also blow out ANY openings on the computer. Don't be afraid, no amount of air is going to dmaage anything in the computer if the fan is stopped.

If you can use your lapttop with a AC power source and not even with a Brand new battery, it is most likely that the battery Fuse on the main PCB is blown off. Check it. Cheers

Thanks guys.
I could open and clean the laptop. It runs fine but after an hour it shutdown.
I noted that the first run lasts a good period. However after that If I run it again this period shrinks. I think that its a matter of temperature. When the CPU is cold there is no problem but when its temperature rise it forces the laptop to shutdown. Every day I use it for one hour and after that I have to wait more than two hours to use it for another hour.
I dont know what to do ?
Any Idea to solve the problem ?

Definitely sounds like it's overheating. Have you blown the dust out yet?

Is this problem the same with battery and the power supply?

Yes it is the same after a period of time it shuts down like if simebody cut the power supply wire.

You can buy and use a "Laptop cooling pad" to prevent overheating.
I prefer to try repair the laptop, I'll use cooling pads only as a last solution.

the problem is with the dc- dc converter inside lap
change some filter caps
I hope you are wrong. Is that a serious problem ? How to recognize these caps and Is it easy to do change them ?

Re: Open a Laptop

Make sure all your fans are working, could be a dead fan...
