ngspice

Hello,
Does anybody know if ngspice is used for RF simulations, like spectre RF?
Thank you,
nrdiss

i have not used spectrerf.
what does it do and what are the facilities you expect from ngspice?

Hi srizbf,
spectre RF is a cadence simulator. I use it at work.
I guess I'm wondering if ngspice is capable of doing the same thing or it's just used for low frequency analog simulations.
Thank you,
nrdiss

i shall give what ngspice can do.
'ngspice' is a 'spice' simulator.

so , it can do what a spice simulator can do.

if you set the frequency to high one ,
still it will solve.

since rf has other components like waveguide , stripline...
you may have to give everything as 'spice' model.
then there is no difference.

the base is , if you have the model . then you can simulate in ngspice.
frequency dependence is now in models.

ngspice can be used if the above are met.

ngspice will not do the periodic steady state/harmonic balance analysis that spectreRF provides. Sorry.
