What is the affidability differece from traditional ( 17C74) and flash family (16F74), the price of traditional is double of the flash ?

koky,

16F74 - 14 bit, 40 pin, 20MHz, 4096 words, 192 bytes RAM, no EEPROM
17C74 - do not exist
for example:
17C44 - 16 bit, 40 pin, 33MHz, 8192 words, 454 bytes RAM, no EEPROM

Got a picture?

Hi,

I think the question is not really the functionality, lets take a look:

PIC16C84(16F84) (very popular):
RAM:68, I/O:13, PROG.:1792 (Bytes), 1024 (Words)

PIC16F870 :
RAM:128, I/O:22, PROG.:3584 (Bytes), 2048 (Words) ADC:5(10bit) etc...

PRICE: 16F84 6€/7€
16F870 3€/4€

The reason I think is that: PIC16F84 year of development (around 1990) PIC16F870 (around 2000); so the technology applied to build 16F870 are newer and cheaper ...
