Hi,

I had a question regarding frequency spectrum in Cadence. I have designed an integrator using two stage opamp. The input to the integrator is a 1Mhz square wave and hence the output is a triangular wave.

I want to see the frequency spectrum of the output (triangular wave). I want to check how symmetric the triangular wave is. If it is purely symmetric, it would not have second harmonic content.

Hence I want to see if there is any second harmonic content in the output triangular wave.

Could someone please help me to plot the frequency spectrum in cadence.

Thanks

Use DFT analysis. See this thread, or search for DFT!

yes do the dft and be sure that transient ran for a long duration so that you can see a dominant spectral component at or close to input frequency if there exist any frequency shift. than choose suffeciently large no of samples to accomodate 2nd harmonic component frequency in scope. otherwise it will foldback and may overlap with some other components and will give wrong results.

The calculator in the waveform viewer in cadence has a DFT function. Use that. You can tweak the values in the required fields to get the desired accuracy...

Also, more easily you can use PSS simulation to see the frequency component directly after simulation. Just use large number of harmonics in PSS TAB.
