i am designing a project of home automation through sms.
i want to add additional function that when i give the sms to put on the electric kettle then after a particular time when its temperature reaches 90 centigrade then i get a message on mobile (t290i sony ericsson) to put off the kettle .
i am using pic 16f877. and lm35 temperature sensor.
how can i implement this additional feature.

also please let me know if i can do any thing further with home automation project because my teachers are saying it is an old project and bring some thing new.

thanks

so how did you connect the mcu to the phone??

i think you better go with PT100 type sensor, if you want switch off after a perticular temperature no need to send a message you can program in microcontroller to do that.

I did a similar project at university last year. Have a look on the Velleman website. They have a kit that controls a number of outputs via DTMF signals sent by telephone. They supply the full .asm code which you can modify to your requirements.

WE ARE TOLD TO DO WITH PIC 16F877 AND LM35,.
I HAVE CONNECTED THE MOBILE THROUGH DB9 SERIAL PORT
