Whats the exact use of Magnetics in Ethernet circuits? How to check a magnetic IC is working fine or not? I am using PulseH1102NL.
 

Galvanic isolation is specified by the ethernet standard. Most magnetics faults can be detected by a resistance
measurement. But they are rather rare, I think.
