hi to all
while i am searching the tool to design antenna i found many like hfss, agilent, cst etc
in these tools we can design any antenna and we can obtain the characterstics of this antenna-like radiation patteren etc

my question is

how we can test this antenna after the design? r is there any method to do test

plz help

how to test antenna

Hi,
The first way is to verify your antenna impedance/matching...
You have to do it with an "Antenna Analyzer"-or more generell VNA_Vector Network Analyzer.
To second; you have to check the characteristics; you need a proved (RFI free, noiseless) environment, or "HF-chamber", and broadband i.e. Signal Generators /Communications test receivers...
You can find some instruments by Rohde & Schwartz, HP & much smaller, dedicated vendors...

Re: how to test antenna

hi thanks for reply

how to do antenna testing, that is i have to transmit the data through antenna and receive the corresponding data at the receiver.how to do this

is there any tool which support this? plz let me know

how to test antenna

Hali,
check pls Rohde + Schwartz/Agilent &...for communications tester i.e., you can find on web sides dedicated instruments for Mobill, WiFi & other codings, BERs (with Bit Error Rate Testers)...

Re: how to test antenna

There are plenty of test laboratories around that will take your antenna, test it, and provide detailed plots of gain vs direction.

If you want to do it yourself, you need:
A mechanical rotator
A signal source
A receiver
Calibrated gain horns
Some sort of anechoic chamber

The above gear can run from a few thousand $ to hundreds of thousands of $, depending on how precise you want the measurement to be.

u can test the antenna on VNA From AGILENT ..on VNA u can measure s11. depending on s11 results u can troubleshoot the signal.... for better performance u should use matching components at the antenna feed line.... for more information u can use this application note......
