Variable Ouput voltage and frequency inverter

Hello Everybody,

I am planning to build a inverter where the user can have choice of choosing the output voltage(120v,150v,180v,210v,230v) and frequency(60hz,120hz,...etc).Input for the inverter is going to be from a 12v DC cell.Is it possible to design the circuit.Please share some idea on this.

Just use 555 timer & 4017 to make a quasi sine wave generation to fireup two push pull transistor. Varying the 555 frequency, you can get the different frequency. taking the output from a different tapping of the transformer, you can have different outputs.

Now you can approach in two ways.

1. First boost to regulated DC Link voltage. (Adjustable from optocoupler feedback potential divider.) Then fire HV switching transistor to output and firing frequency may be changed.

2. Fire low voltage hogh current transistor and fed to push pull primary of the power frequency transformer. Take output from different tappings.

Here, in case 1, as the voltage boost is in high frequency, Transformer volume will be low and of ferritte core. In 2 Transformer will be designed for the power and minimum frequency.

Hope basic idea should be clear.
