hi all experts, im daniel from malaysia.
i am doing this project, title "EAN barcode reading by using Camera phone"
i am supposed to take a picture by using phone camera, then doing pre processing and decoding with algorithm.
i am now facing difficulties in sharpening the image. i take pictures of barcode with a HTC phone, 5 megapixel, but when i am trying to make sure the picture is in the grid, the picture will lack of focus, i tried using different sharpening ways but it ended bad. hopefully experts in here can share with me your knowledge.
your replies are greatly appreciated.
 

Hi there
The EAN/UCC-8 linear barcode symbol, also known as European Article Number 8, UPC-8, GTIN-8, GS1-8, EAN/UCC-8, is used internationally to identify consumer goods, but is shorter than EAN-13 symbols. Unlike UPC-E that can be expanded back into a UPC-A symbol, EAN-8 cannot be expanded into an EAN-13 symbol.
 

can you explain what you mean by "trying to make sure the picture is in the grid"
what software are you using?
