cmos vco ads

hi all:
i am now learning the design of cmos vco,now i have some quentions:
1.what is the best simulation tool for complementary crossed-coupled lc oscilaltor?what is about advanced design system?how to use it?
2.what parameters are in need in simulation?

thanks!

differential cmos vco design

1.your selection is right!
2.freq. synthesizer specs are: frequency steps, lower and upper frequencies, phase noise; with these known (determined from your interested standard) the specs of the vco like tuning range, phase-noise, and its architecture is determined! for that u need some system simulation with your software's "PLL design guides"!

BEST!

1 i am using MC7 for circuit design and ADS negative registance etc determination
2 only for VCO design Tr parameter (SPICE and S-para) is needed. but one parts of total pll , VCO has many conditions ,phasenoise (including thermal and fricker aiso schotky) dependence to VCC change etc :(

hi:
First thank for you two's answer!
Can you introduce a complete book on vco design using ADS for me?
thanks!

Hi,
If L is into picture , and application being frequency synthesizer then you surely need to go in for ADS.

If you are on the other way round design analog circuit...say Ring oscillator based VCO you need to go in for Cadence IC. Virtuoso schematic editor, spectre/eldo/hspice.

Cheers,

the frequency dependence of the oscillators to supply noise can be decreased using differential control voltage, in this way it is possible to decrease it to 10 times!

BEST!
