Numerical solution based on MoM, FEM, ... versus theory?

I'm trying to do a comparison between numerical solution based on MoM (NEC2 code, program SuperNEC) and FEM-Finite Element Method (Ansoft's HFSS) versus theoretical solution of the same electromagnetical problem.

To be more specific, I'm simulating a half-wave dipole in two cases: firstly the dipole has finite thickness (10000 > length/radius of wire > 50) and secondly the dipole has infinitesimally thin wires. I'm only comparing the impedance, not the radiation.

Why the half-wave dipole? Because it's well covered in theory-literature...

Theoretical results of impedance of infinitesimally thin wires of half-wave dipole are very well known, but not in the case of finite thickness.

For finite thickness i've only found impedance results from Ronold King's Theory of Linear antenna, ~1950. Those results (King-Middleton 2nd order solutions) differ from MoM results slightly (0.1 to 2 ohms!!!) at 10000 = length/radius, but they differ greatly (more than 20 ohms) at 50 = length/radius... :evil: :evil: :evil:

:?: Does anyone have an idea how to verify numerical results with the theory?

:?: Where to find finite-thickness half-wave dipole theoretical results of impedance?

:?: Why does the theoretical results of impedance differ from MoM results (in the case of the exactly the same structure)?


I would be very grateful for any references, literature or insight with this problem :)
