Hello all,

I'm sorry in advanced if this is a post that has already been asked. For my design project, my group is working on a solar-powered battery system which can charge via USB or car charger. We're going to have an LCD monitor displaying things such as battery voltage, battery percent remaining etc. My question is: What would be some good choices for micro-controllers + LCD screen? We were thinking about having a 3x3 inch screen for the display. I'm still researching ideas of course, but I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on where I can begin to look etc. Thanks for your help!

Hi,
For microcontroller use AVR or PIC or anything else. I suggest AVR.
For display, you can use GLCD with controller KS108/KS107/T6963 or you can use alphanumeric LCD with controller HD44780.
Tahmid.

Thank you so much Tahmid! I will spend a good amount of time researching and comparing your suggestions. :D

Hi,
And choose your programming language(C, BASIC, ASM or PASCAL), compiler (for PIC: C18, C30, HI-TECH, CCS, mikroC, mikroBASIC, PICBASIC, mikroPASCAL, etc. for AVR: WinAVR, mikroC, mikroBASIC, mikroPASCAL, BASCOM, etc.)
I highly recommend the tools from mikroElektronika as I have been using them and am greatly satisfied and pleased with their compiler.

I use mikroBASIC.
Hope this helps.
Tahmid.
